Lauren and Lawrence absolutely nailed my tips on pre-wedding (engagement) sessions.
Whenever possible I think it’s so powerful to choose a location that has sentimental meaning to you. Imagine having not just beautiful photos to cherish forever but ones that hold stories within the story. Photos that tell more about your journey than just the connection you share. Jam packing the photo shoot with places that you love just builds that in so naturally.
These absolute legends chose their own neighbourhood where they recently brought and home and are building life together for us to capture their pre wedding photos. We explored the local hot spots they enjoy on their commute to work and on evening strolls with their cut beans (adorable pup). Who knew that downtown Brampton had so much to offer?!
They could, and likely will, leave here one day but these photos will go with them and allow them to enjoy this special time in their relationship and life journey together forever.

So maybe you don’t have a super important place nearby to use, then what? If you’ve got a minute check out these tips I share with all my wedding couples when we’re planning their engagement session…
1. Choose a location that’s important to you (if not possible then move to step 2)
2. Choose a backdrop that’s very different from that of your wedding day
For example, if you are getting married on a golf course head to an urban or beach location for your engagement photos.
3. Think of 1 or 2 activities you enjoy doing together and think of how we could incorporate them into the photo shoot
Maybe you have a favourite song you love to dance to or make killer hot chocolates. Maybe you both ride skates boards, enjoy board games or are obsessed with Starbucks.
4. If we have enough time before your wedding day then book the engagement session in a contrasting season
And whatever you do, make it you in as many ways as you can. Bring your dog, your kids, your favourite clothes and all your love and affection. Kick away all the nerves and embrace a super fun and romantic hour at sunset with the love of your life, and me of course, the killer 3rd wheel with a great eye and cool camera lol.
